These sunken forms create protected micro-environments, held within the surrounding terrain. In Doline, the hollow becomes a place of refuge — a contained, inward-looking space where depth, enclosure, and calm converge. Light settles into the recess, and shadow traces its edges, reinforcing a sense of protection and quiet withdrawal. The sculpture suggests a protective enclosure, where layered forms gather like ridge-lines curving inward, offering both depth and stillness.
The paper sculptures in the Refuge Series explore the idea of refuge through organic and constructed forms inspired by both natural landscapes and man-made shelters. Each piece suggests a serene, protective space — a reflection of the calm and safety found in places of retreat."
