"The Gem Series explores the depth and hidden beauty of gemstones through layered sculptural paper constructions inspired by colour, light and geological form. Recessed spaces, shadow and reflected light evoke hidden caverns, seams and illuminated pockets within the earth where gemstones are formed and discovered.The rare beauty of green sapphire is expressed through luminous depths that reveal a subtle harmony between light, colour and the natural world."
