"A breath of fresh air" is a vibrant and deeply layered abstract work where rich green tones emerge through multiple strata of cold wax and acrylics on canvas. The work's surface is textured and tactile, built through Van den Bosch's signature process of carving, rubbing, discarding and rebuilding—creating depth that invites the viewer to look closer and linger.
Van den Bosch creates mixed-media pieces characterized by powerful, spontaneous gestures with which she brings emotions to the canvas without hesitation. With rough, uninhibited brushstrokes, she creates unique tension in each painting. Despite this dynamic process, she manages to create harmonious, meditative works that convey a calm yet strong presence.
The luminous green feels alive and energetic, evoking the freshness of nature, renewal and the simple, grounding experience of breathing deeply. The title captures this sense of lightness and clarity, while the work's layered density adds depth and substance—a beautiful contradiction that makes the piece both grounding and uplifting.
This is ideal for collectors who appreciate textured abstraction with vibrant color, emotional resonance and a connection to natural forces that bring renewal and vitality.
