"WHEN I PAINT, I EXPERIENCE AN OVERPOWERING SENSATION. THIS INTENSITY IS THE ESSENCE OF MY WORK."
"For André van Lier, form, and geometric form in particular, is the starting point of his artistic work. It's about concrete art, art that doesn't refer to any form of reality. Mathematical shapes like triangles, squares, rectangles, circles, and ellipses all play a role in this. Although colour plays a minor role in his work, it does add tension to the artwork. He uses the non-colors black and white, as well as mixed colors, and tries to avoid the primary colors, which played such an important role in early representatives of Concrete art, as much as possible. True to the Zero tradition Zero tradition André van Lier's work consists of sculptures, artworks, land-art or installations."
