Eline De Jonge Dutch, b. 1971

"MY WORK IS ABOUT POSITIVE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN PEOPLE, RESULTING IN A MANIFESTATION OF EMPOWERING EMOTIONAL OR SPIRITUAL ENERGY."

Her new series, Shadows on sand, is painted in and inspired by observations on the coast of Cadaquès (Northern Spain). The works are painted on raw linen and layered with colors of Mediterranean skies and seawater and then covered with layers of pasty white oil paint, still allowing the colors and linen to shine through on occasion. The paintings resonate the stark contrasts at the end of a sunny day and the reflection of light on the water turning people into dark silhouettes and washing away most colors.
