From Brian: "Crevasse is a deep fissure formed within a moving glacier, shaped by pressure, time, and shifting ice. In high mountain environments, these ice-formed voids can offer unexpected refuge, providing skiers and mountaineers with temporary shelter from wind and storm. In Crevasse, the hidden chamber within the ice becomes a place of protection and stillness — a quiet, enclosed space held within the vast and exposed landscape.
The paper sculptures in the Refuge Series explore the idea of refuge through organic and constructed forms inspired by both natural landscapes and man-made shelters. Each piece suggests a serene, protective space — a reflection of the calm and safety found in places of retreat."
