Founded in 2021 by gallery owner Evelyne Callens, The Lane Art is a nomadic contemporary gallery based between the Kent countryside near Cranbrook in the UK and the Belgian seaside town of Knokke, representing a carefully curated roster of emerging and established artists from around the world. From these two complementary bases – the “garden of England” and one of Europe’s most vibrant coastal art destinations – the gallery uses temporary spaces and an agile model to bring distinctive contemporary art to collectors, interior designers and art lovers locally and internationally.
Since 2022, The Lane has grown rapidly by stepping beyond the traditional white cube and onto the international fair circuit, presenting its artists at leading Affordable Art Fairs and at art events along the Belgian coast, including Knokke Art Fair. This outward‑looking approach allows the gallery to reach a diverse global audience of new and seasoned collectors while remaining intimate and boutique in spirit.
At the heart of The Lane is a clear curatorial “red thread”: a focus on texture, materiality and works that invite a deep emotional and tactile response. The artists represented explore surface, depth and storytelling in ways that feel both visually striking and quietly contemplative, creating pieces that resonate in homes, hospitality spaces and curated collections alike.
We collaborate closely with high‑profile galleries, interior designers and design‑led projects in the UK, Belgium and beyond to help our artists build sustainable careers, placing work in thoughtful contexts rather than just on walls. Guided by the belief that art should be inclusive yet unique and thought‑provoking, The Lane connects a growing community of collectors and design clients with work chosen not by rigid criteria, but by genuine passion and long‑term commitment to each artist’s journey.
